MRI centers need IT engineered for extremely large imaging datasets and constant data movement. That includes high-throughput PACS and RIS support, storage and bandwidth sized for multi-sequence MRI studies, DICOM routing, modality worklist, and HL7 interfaces to referring providers and their EHRs. It also requires teleradiology routing for remote reads, image-sharing portals for referrers and patients, and hardened security to guard protected health information. Finally, tested backups, disaster recovery, and ACR and HIPAA documentation keep the center compliant, accredited, and always able to scan.
